Annabel Poate-Joyner provides high-quality independent Clinical and Occupational Health assessment and psychological intervention services to the NHS, CQC, Local Authorities, Police Forces and to commercial and private sector organisations and services by arrangement.

Throughout her career, Annabel has worked primarily in the fields of Mental Health and Occupational Health. She has particular expertise in working and supporting people with experiencing work-related stress issues and also personal issues affecting their work and she is skilled in addressing Fitness for Work issues, providing individual support and management advice on relevant issues such as reasonable adjustments to support the person within their workplace under the Equality Act 2010 and to facilitate inclusive management practices.

Since 1998, Annabel has also specialised in working with police officers and with local, regional, national and international policing and law enforcement organisations, providing psychological supervision and support Executive & Wellbeing Coaching and management advice at all levels from individuals and teams up to leaders of law enforcement organisations.

She has held several Force Psychologist posts, contracts and arrangements including Surrey Police, CEOP, and the Metropolitan Police Service, the Royal Military Police, SOCA, the National Crime Agency, and INTERPOL. 

Annabel pioneered the concept of Psychological Health & Safety in organisations from 2000 to date and for over 20 years, she has developed bespoke clinically-based Pre-Selection Screening and Mandatory Monitoring Questionnaires for police officers applying for sensitive roles which may be particularly challenging, stressful and potentially traumatising for use by Occupational Health Departments.

She is committed to bringing psychological understanding to underpin proactive organisational approaches and a positive workplace culture, encouraging personal and collective integrity and accountability and well-functioning, inclusive healthy organisations and businesses.

Annabel has an exceptional ability to work in very sensitive situations including supporting and providing coaching to senior leaders and high-profile people coping with very difficult crisis situations and media interest, and offers personal and professional support to whistle-blowers.
